Ministry Overview
This ministry, consisting of pastoral and lay counselors, provides access to trained biblical counselors. Lay counselors are certified by the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and by Peacemaker Ministries. Help is offered in applying biblical principles for personal and relational strength and stability, resolving disputes and conflicts, and recovery from addictive behaviors.
The counseling offered is short-term, no fee, peer support, biblically-based counsel, not professionally licensed therapy. We also assist with appropriate referrals to professional counselors.
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. Matthew 11: 28-29
Are you struggling with unresolved anger and bitterness? Does resentment plague your daily life? Is envy or jealously plaguing your relationships? Are you confused regarding critical decisions that need to be made? Is grief consuming your life’s energy? We will help you bring the truths of God to bear on those situations that confront us all in the experience of life.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 In following the teachings of Christ, we believe we are called to respond to conflict in a way that is remarkably different from the way the world deals with conflict. We believe that conflict provides opportunities to glorify God, serve others, and grow to be more like Christ. Therefore, we are committed to respond to conflict according to the following principles: 1. Honor God in the midst of conflict; 2. Self examination; 3 Help others take responsibility for their contribution in conflict; and 4. Demonstrate the forgiveness of God while encouraging a solution to conflict.”
Peacemaker counselors provide: • Education—classroom and small group settings. • Conflict Coaching—a personal one-on- one mentoring process to help assess conflict in a biblical manner and to bring biblical principles to bear on the issues at hand. • Conflict Mediation—fosters an environ- ment for people to take ownership over both the process and the outcome of conflict resolution. Following a team approach, all parties to a conflict become involved in the opportunity to experience God’s life-changing grace.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the LORD and refuse to do wrong. If you do, it will be like good medicine, healing your wounds and easing your pains. Proverbs 3:5-9 Paths to Recovery is an ongoing 12-step support group that brings freedom from addictions and compulsions through the power of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. We serve both men and women in gender-specific support groups. The format of our ministry is Overcomers Outreach, a fellowship of men and women who have been affected either directly or indirectly by the abuse of any mood-altering chemical or compulsive behavior. We believe that as we look to a loving God for help, and put into practice principles for living which He has given in His Word, we shall find the strength and freedom needed to live productive and happy lives. We strongly believe that our higher power is Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Our five-fold purpose: 1. To provide fellowship in recovery. 2. To be and live reconciled to God and His family. 3. To gain better understanding of alcohol and mood-altering chemicals and the disease of addiction. 4. To be built up and strengthened in our faith in Christ. 5. To render dedicated service to others who suffer as we once suffered.
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. II Peter 5:7
