If you were around this past weekend, you heard from our Elder panel on several things coming up this fall as well as a financial update on our church. It was such a powerful weekend and we heard from several of you who found it very helpful. But, if you missed it or perhaps... like me... just need to hear something a couple of times before it fully clicks, I wanted to explain again where we see God taking us as a church.

The vision, "Empowering Champions of Hope," has become our filter for ministry here at Faith Christian Community. How do we equip and empower people to champion the hope of Jesus in their daily lives? What does it look like to be a champion of hope in your family? What does it mean to be a champion of hope at work? How do we, individually, champion hope in the city of Anchorage and beyond?

This goal influences what we do and where we go as a church moving forward. To that end, we let you know last weekend that we'll launch a new onboarding process called "Growth Track" in September and new Connect Groups in October.

The intent is very simple. How do you "empower a champion of hope?" Well... you can't unless a person is connected to the church and connected into relationships with people in the church. Growth Track helps connect a person to the church. Connect Groups help a person make relationships in the church. Out of both of these things, we believe people will enter into a discipling relationship with others around them and will grow in their faith in Jesus and the hope he provides the world.

The next step is helping individuals identify what God has called them to and then equipping, encouraging, and empowering to take steps toward that calling. That's the part I'm most excited about! That's the part of the puzzle where we begin to see our city radically changed. It's also the part we don't know fully what it looks like just yet. Because, we can't know what God puts in an individuals heart!

But, as a church, if we become a greenhouse for people to identify how God may have wired and called them to make a difference in this world, and then we help them take steps toward it... that's exciting and I hope you feel it too. I can't wait to start sharing stories with you as it plays out.

In fact, we already have an example of a champion of hope we're going to share with you the weekend of September 8th and 9th. Don't miss it!

Joe
